11. Church Cove

Church Cove is an east facing beach at Gunwalloe on the western side of the Lizard Peninsula.

Similarly to neighbouring Poldhu Cove, a sand ridge, or natural berm, currently separates the lower beach from relatively low-lying upper beach. Presently the stream cuts through this ridge.

The sand is coarse and gritty at the top of the beach and finer lower down.

There are sand dunes at the top of the beach, grading into wetland.

There is vehicular access only to the “Church of Storms” on the northern side and no through-road. The eastern side is vegetated sand dune grading into the golf course.
